Do not apply topical testosterone to other areas not recommended in the product instructions, such as your stomach, penis, or scrotum. Your pharmacist can tell you all of the ingredients in the specific topical testosterone products they stock. Misusing topical testosterone can lead to serious side effects, such as heart problems or mental health problems. Stop using topical testosterone and get emergency help if you have any of the following signs of blood clots. Common side effects include skin reactions where the medicine is applied, changes in certain lab test results, headache, high blood pressure, and mood swings.
Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Some items may interact with your medicine. Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Do not use double or extra doses. If the patch becomes loose, simply smooth it down again around the edges. Do not share this medicine with others. Keep these considerations in mind if your doctor prescribes testosterone for you. Never try to catch up by taking two doses at once. But if you remember just a few hours before your next scheduled dose, take only one dose.
A locked cupboard at least one-and-a-half metres above the ground is a good place to store medicines. Heat and dampness can destroy some medicines. Do not store Androderm®or any other medicine in the bathroom or near a sink. Some of these side effects (for example a reduction in the number of sperm produced or high blood pressure) can only be found when your doctor does tests from time to time to check your progress.
